Reminder: Almost Alice is out

The 'Almost Alice' CD, featuring Robert Smith's cover of 'Very Good Advice', is out today.

Update: While not connected to the new movie, Barnes & Noble are selling a better Alice album, 'Under the Influence of Alice: Music Inspired by the Classic Tale', which includes 'The Caterpillar' by The Cure and 'Looking Glass Girl' by The Glove. (Thanks Sofia)

  1. Am I alone to think this song just plain sucks? I can't "enjoy" listening to this... like... at all. I don't like the singing and some of the sounds in there are utterly annoying. Sure I heard it, but I don't think I'll ever actually listen to it again! lol

  2. I downloaded the single today on itunes. I only heard it once but I know what you mean about the sounds... at first listen they do sort of attack the ear on certain levels. I'll give it a few more listens before I deem it a sucky tune.

  3. It has grown on me. I wasn't sure about it to begin with either, but I'm well on my way to liking it now.

  4. There have been an influx of reviews of the entire album. Most of the single out the Smith track as being one of the highlights. I would assume that may be due to the quality of the other bands but the general consensus seems that the whole thing isn't bad, just mediocre.

One of the things that grabbed my attention - which flew completely over my head at first - is that this song is aimed at children. This is a child's album. The first (pseudo)Cure track for that market?

  5. Andrew, nope. They did the theme for the show 'The Dragon Hunters'. It was a reworked version of 'Taking Off', and was titled 'The Dragon Hunters Theme'.

  10. A very good advice: Wolfmother's song is the only listenable song of this whole thing.
